Peter Boutros : Masters Business Administration

Hi I’m Peter Boutros and I did a Masters of Business Administration at the Sydney Graduate School of Management.
I wanted to do a Masters to enhance my career prospects and earning power in my organisation, because others around me had degrees and I didn’t.
I’d done management courses but never at uni, and I also had two young children and my wife was expecting our third, so it was a tough ask, and I wasn’t sure how I’d go.
But the Masters courses at SGSM are really flexible and they gave me a choice of electives to ramp up my skills in the specific areas I wanted to improve.
By doing the Masters I not only acquired new skills, I also gained a whole new level of confidence. Because I got through it, having to balance the needs of three kids, and my work, I’m now far more resilient, I manage my time more efficiently; I work smarter, and now know that I can mix it with the best.
I put in the hard yards and now it is really paying off. Six months after completing my MBA I successfully gained a promotion to regional manager. My new role is a lot more challenging and is really allowing me to put into practice the theory I learnt in the MBA, and it pays more, so my whole family benefits, and not just me.
The combination of experience and a Masters has put me in good stead to stay ahead of everybody else who hasn’t got them.
And it’ll do the same for you.
