Maike Sundmacher : School of Economics and Finance.

Hi, I’m Maike Sunmacher and I lecture in finance at the Sydney Graduate School of Management at the University of Western Sydney.
We know it takes a lot of courage and effort to come to a new country and study in a different language. And that it takes time to adjust to a different way of learning.
So we provide a lot of practical support for new students, because we want to make sure everyone has an enjoyable and successful educational experience with us.
We have an excellent range of practical, information and student counselling services, to help you settle in, explain how the education system works here, and deal you’re your needs and worries, so that you can just concentrate on your studies.
We provide academic advisory sessions to help you structure your curriculum based on your previous experience or chosen specialisation, and help you make the best choices and decisions about your education.
We also run workshops to help you with the practical issues of assignments, like how to properly structure an essay or prepare a presentation.
Like me, many of our lecturers have also come from other countries, so we know what you have to deal with, and we haven’t forgotten. That’s why we’re able to give you the patience and encouragement needed to overcome the problems sometimes created by language barriers.
It’s a big step coming here but we’ll make sure you feel at home, excel at your studies, and get all the skills, experience and qualifications you came here to get.
