Hello, I’m John Glover and I’m the managing director of Pendragon Management, which is a salary packaging and payroll company.
My business is very complicated because we deal with different types of companies that all have their own rules and regulations, so each payroll is different, and virtually every employee has a different salary package.
Therefore, as an employer, I need people who have a good knowledge in my area of business, who are fast and adaptable learners, good at communicating with clients and who are able to make sound, well reasoned judgements.
Because there’s a lot of money at stake, for a lot of people, there’s no hiding place. You’ve got to be able to handle a problem or issue as it comes up, directly with the client, and not hide behind a trail of emails.
I’ve employed three SGSM graduates and they’ve all had these demanding attributes. They’ve been quick and sharp on the uptake and understood my clients needs and wants.
They’ve also had a broader, more practical knowledge of the whole business world than I expected, and are able to think outside the box when solving problems. So what they’ve learned applies to the real world.
It’s clear to me that the SGSM courses help prepare and sharpen people up so they arrive ready and capable of doing the job.
For an employer that’s really important because you get a return on your investment far quicker.
